Welcome to Protein Sorting Mechanisms Laboratory

About us
Our laboratory is interested in the mechanisms of protein sorting in plant cells, particularly the ones directed to the vacuole. Abiotic stress conditions are how plant cells cope with the alterations in protein sorting and endomembranes remodeling in adverse environments are key aspects of our research. We consider that the identification of the specific roles of each actor in the game turns out to be an important factor for the genetic improvement of plants because the positive adaptation probably depends on synergistic effects and balanced interactions normally not considered related.
We are part of GreenUPorto - Research Centre on Sustainable Agri-food Production –, an Institution that aims to contribute to the scientific and technological development and to the knowledge transfer in the field of agronomy, food and environmental sciences, promoting an innovative and a sustained growth of this sector.
